A summer road trip and a long-developing desire to create with needle and thread led me to blackwork embroidery. It is a natural fit when I look back on what I have been doing over the past 5 years–black and white, geometric, and pattern-based work. I am teaching myself technique with larger projects planned for the future. To practice technique I have been working on a series of hand-stitched state of Minnesota silhouettes.
