A Shave and a Haircut

Sorry for the long hiatus on the blog.  We just said goodbye to my parents, yesterday, after a wonderful two week visit.  With all our touring and hanging out it took twice as long to get a comic out.  I had the false impression that our long bus rides would be great times to draw and write but I found myself on the verge on motion sickness for the first time in my life during those trips.  Maybe it is the height of the seats, and the aggressiveness of the drivers, that got to me.  Oh well.  Working on our kitchen table, back in Ortahasir, was familiar and easy, especially since everyone slept in as a result of all our adventures.

During my parent’s stay we gave my dad his birthday present, a trip to a Turkish barber.  It may not seem like a great present but my father came home beaming and couldn’t stop talking about it.  I couldn’t stop talking about it after my first visit, either.  Men from surrounding villages come to ours for their haircuts so the barbers are particularly good here.  I’d suggest booking a flight, and a room in our home, and experiencing it yourself.  Unfortunately it is a male-only experience.  For the women, Jocelyn will take you to Mirella in Urgup.   That’s a whole other story she’ll have to tell.
