A Quartermaster’s Tale, Continued

Part two of the “What-we-wished-we-hadn’t-packed” series. Actually, we did a pretty good job packing. My one major regret is frittering away loads of time to acquire certain things that ended up being readily available here in Turkey. We could have been learning some more Turkish instead of searching for mechanical pencil lead. I still don’t know how to ask for it in a store here as a result.

ya know, all things considered that’s not a bad list and at least mechanical pencil lead doesn’t exactly take up a lot of room…unless of course you took a suitcase full of it.

I’m about ready to fly someone over here just so I can send home with him/her all the “nice” clothes I didn’t need to bring. However, that person would be asked to bring along a heap of Appropriate for Seven Year Old Boys books… and steel cut oats, coconut milk, vanilla extract, brownie mix, maple syrup, mac ‘n cheese, and Legos.

Makes you want to take a second trip to Turkey, I suppose. Can be arranged. I’m sad mostly for the viola. Self teaching? Screeching?
